Students will investigate the economic conditions ofthe British Colonies which can trace its roots back to the 1600's as Europeans sailed to the New World in search of many things, chief among them...monetary gain. Students will read and discuss articles, books, and primary sources depicting the colony's early economic systems. England's success in colonizing the New World was greatly due to merchants who sought wealth and power in a new land. As the colonies struggled to grow and prosper, seeds of discontent were sewn by a greedy monarchy. The students will research and debate the economic difficulties of this time period as they progress towards understanding the economic conditions of the British Colonies.
