Primary Source Archive Updated

Earlier this week we launched the primary source archive at www.danburytahg.org/archive/. Over the last few days, we have completed a number of modifications and bug fixes:

  • linked image on the archive page now launches the archive as a full screen window with no confusing navigation buttons (they don't help you navigate around the Flash movie and usually just confuse users when they go to the previous web page instead of back on step in the Flash movie)
  • courses view is properly labeled "courses" and has a pull down menu for your three course outlines. We are working to get introduction text into all the units (when we have it), but you can get the idea of how a teacher might pick a course, pick a unit, and then view primary sources, resources, links, and an introduction about that unit. The idea is that the TAH grant helps anyone teaching these units locate and use primary source material in the archive or in books, films, and websites.
  • sources view dropped the confusing by topic filter and can be searched by keyword or by media type.

A number of features are still in progress including research folders and some of the save, link, and export functionality that just needs to be tuned for the new server account.  Once the archive is running perfectly, we will launch the content management system that will let you all add sources to the archive. Comments welcome.
